About the Teacher

My name is Roxanne Lopez and I am your child's Religion and Social Studies teacher. This is my twenty-first year teaching at St. George School. I graduated from California State University San Bernardino with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and from Walden University with my Masters of Science in Education with an emphasis in Integrating Technology into the Curriculum. I have plenty of experience working with children. Prior to becoming a teacher, I used to work with the San Bernardino County Probation Department as a juvenile probation officer. From there I went into the counseling field-counseling abused children at a group home and then working as a school counselor with a non profit agency. I truly believe that God has led me here...to truly live out my dream of being a Catholic school teacher. Being a Catholic educator is a calling in itself. I love the freedom of being in the classroom and sharing my faith with my children.

I am happily married to my husband, Rudy, an SGS alumni, Class of 1986. Together, we have 4 children-one son and 3 daughters (ages 31, 27, 23, and 20) and 3 little grandbabies. Our girls have all attended and graduated from St. George. One of our granddaughters is a St George School Knight!

I have attended various workshops and training to further my professional development and teaching strategies-which include Differentiated Instruction, Pedagogy of Questioning, Curriculum Mapping, Active Shooter, First Aid training, Step Up to Writing, Accelerated Reader and Math, Moby Max, STEM, and STAR Assessment training.  In previous years, I have also served on a WCEA/WASC Accreditation Committee and I was the Junior High Level Team Leader.  I have my California Elementary Catechist Catholic School/PMFP Certificate. In addition, I am an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and a Lector for our Parish. It is a such a blessing and honor to be able to part of our Parish community.

As a parent, I know your child's well-being is extremely important. I put children and their well-being first. I feel open lines of communication between teachers and parents is extremely important. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me and we can set up an appointment. I look forward to getting acquainted with you and your child. Together, we will make this a great year!

Mission for the Class

My mission, as an educator in a Catholic school, is to encourage the value of learning as a life-long need and to help establish an atmosphere in the classroom that inspires excitement and enjoyment to learning each and every day. Each day I will help my students develop confidence in order for them to do their personal best and to believe in themselves. I will continuously work with parents to provide a caring environment that prepares their children, my students, to act in a responsible, Christian manner toward others.

“Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school.
He is the unseen, but ever present teacher in its classes.
He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.” – Unknown Author
