I am Sara Martinez and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity of teaching at SGS since the year 2000. I am excited to have moved to the Jr. High level where I will be teaching Math and Religion.

I attended Cal Poly Pomona and later graduated from California State University San Bernardino with a dual degree in Liberal Studies and Psychology.  I am currently attending National University, where I plan to complete a Master’s degree in Teaching with an emphasis in Reading and a multiple subject teaching credential.

Besides being a teacher at St. George Parish School, I’m also a parent, which somehow graduated me to being a “soccer mom”. My daughter, Alitzah, attended SGS and graduated three years ago. She just became a junior at Pomona Catholic. My son, Mark, is in sixth grade.  He is my carpool buddy.  My children play soccer on the weekends and it seems like the soccer field is my third home, SGS is my second home. As you can see, I am a busy mom.

As your child’s educator, I can assure you that your child’s education and well-being are extremely important to me.  I have attended many different workshops to further my professional development and teaching strategies, such as Differentiated Instruction, Pedagogy of Questioning, Curriculum Mapping, Active Shooter First Aid training, Autism training, Step Up to Writing, Accelerated Reader and Math and STAR Assessment training.  In previous years, I also have served on a WCEA/WASC Accreditation Committee, and was Middle Level Team Leader.  I have a current California Elementary Catechist Catholic School Certificate and PMFP certification.  I also serve as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector, and I also volunteer as a catechist in the confirmation program here at St. George Church.  I am the Mission moderator for our school Holy Childhood Association Program (HCA). My ultimate goal as a teacher is to develop independent learners that love learning.
