About The Teacher

"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive"

Matthew 1:21-22

I am Sara Martinez and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity of teaching at SGS since the year 2000. After having worked in the Middle level for many years, I was given with the opportunity to work with the Junior High students and it was an outstanding experience. I loved working with them in math, but I most especially loved learning with them about our faith in Religion class. Their youth is a tremendous gift and God allowed me to walk with them in their faith journey. I truly enjoyed every minute spent with them.  We rejoiced and worshiped together as God filled us with his message of love and peace. Then God exceedingly blessed me as I began a new job assignment at our school. I currently teach Honors Math, as well as working with the administration as Vice Principal.

I attended Cal Poly Pomona and later graduated from California State University San Bernardino with a dual degree in Liberal Studies and Psychology.  God has continued to bless me as I completed a Master’s degree in Teaching with an emphasis in Best Practices from National University. As your child’s educator, I can assure you that your child’s education and well-being are extremely important to me.  I have attended numerous workshops to further my professional development and teaching strategies, such as Differentiated Instruction, Pedagogy of Questioning, Curriculum Mapping, Active Shooter First Aid training, Autism training, Step Up to Writing, Accelerated Reader and Math and STAR Assessment training.  In previous years, I also have served on a WCEA/WASC Accreditation Committee, and was Middle Level Team Leader. I have a current California Elementary Catechist Catholic School Certificate and PMFP certification. I also serve as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector, and I also have volunteered as a catechist in the confirmation program here at St. George Church.  I am the Mission moderator for our school Holy Childhood Association Program (HCA).

Besides being an educator at St. George Parish School, I’m also a parent.  My daughter, Alitzah, attended SGS and graduated in 2015. She attended Pomona Catholic High School and just obtained her B.S. on Nutritional Science from GCU. My son, Mark, was a member of the SGC class of 2020 and is a junior at Damien High School. I love sharing my free time with them. I love taking road trips, visiting historical site and drinking coffee, so I “dragged” them around wherever I go :)

My goal as an educator is to develop inquisitive-independent learners, who seek God in all they do.
