About The Teacher/TA's

 Mrs. Julie Hogan
 St. George Catholic School

Hello and welcome to my Jr.Kindergarten website. My name is Mrs. Julie Hogan and I would like to share with you a little bit about myself.

I worked for twenty-five years with Lucky Stores while my children attended school. After they graduated from college, I decided, with the encouragement of my family, to finish my degree. While going to school, I began working at a preschool, which was always my first love; working with small children.

I started my second career as a Preschool teacher in 2002. I served as a teacher and Interim Director at a Christian preschool in San Bernardino that year.I later went on to be a two-year-old teacher in Highland, California. In fact, I still keep in touch with some of my former students and their families. I began at St. George and opened the Pre-Kindergarten program here in 2005. As I begin my twelfth year here, I am proud to be teaching what is now the Jr. Kindergarten program. The purpose is to transition young preschoolers into Kindergarten. I have a passion for working with preschool-age students. I am honored to have been entrusted with, and beginning a foundation for, your children's future.

I have attended numerous Early Childhood Development courses at Chaffey College and hold an Early Childhood Development Master Teacher permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. I received my B.A. in Early Childhood Education through Brandman University in Ontario in April, 2014. I received my PMFP in 2006 and my California Catechetical certificate in 2007. In March 2004, I attended the conference "Kindergarten, I'm Ready, So Here I Come!". I attended the Pasadena Autism Asperger's Conference in 2010 and an autism workshop, "I Won't and You Can't Make Me!" in November 2010. I also attending Training for our Super Kids Program. While attending Chaffey College, I attended several workshops on the "Week of the Young Child". I participated in the Gesell Institute of Child Development workshop and the first, second, and third California Teachers' Summits in 2015, 2016, and 2017. I completed the Renaissance Star course suite in January of 2017. I attended a Math workshop in June, Profound Mathematics, using reasoning strategies, and a workshop in July on The Power of Positive Reinforcement as well as a webinar, " What Stem is and Isn't". I have also been a Daisy Girl Scout leader over the last three years for our Troop, and now we will begin our Brownie Troop here at St.George.

I am proud of my recent award as the 2018 Distinguished Teacher of the Year for St, George as awarded by the Diocese of San Bernardino, Office of Catholic Schools. This is an affirmation of the quality of our Jr. Kindergarten program at St. George and the achievement of learning success I strive for in your children.

I have been married over 37 years and have 3 children who have all attended and graduated from St. Catherine of Siena school in Rialto are all now college graduates. During that time, I received the Distinguished Volunteer of the Year award in 2002. I was also Treasurer of the PTG and, later, a member of the School Board. My husband and I have been involved in our parish in Rialto since we moved there in 1981. We have served in various ministries including facilitating Baptism, Marriage Prep and Confirmation; as well as Eucharistic Ministry, Hospitality and Lectoring. I also served as a volunteer Catechism teacher there for over 20 years.

We have an granddaughter, Lela Marie, who turns 8 this April and a grandson, Joseph Patrick, who turns 7 in July. We also have another granddaughter, Sylvia Capri, that turns 5 this March. We were blessed with the birth of Jacob Isaac, our 4th grandchild, last October. Soon we will have another grandson, due June 6th. We envision that our children will appreciate the value of the quality Catholic education that they received, and will use that background in raising their own children.

       Teaching the Whole Child:
I believe in teaching the whole child with age-appropriate curriculum. I feel the best way my students learn is with hands-on activities and lots of love.
