About The Teacher
Dear St. George Parents,
My name is Hilda Berber. I am excited and honored to have been chosen as the 4th grade teacher for the 2017-18 school year.
This will be my second full year at St. George. I started off as the Kindergarten teacher mid 2015. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies and a Minor in Sociology from Chapman University. I am enrolled in the Multiple Subject credential program while obtaining my Masters in Educational Leadership, at Chapman University.
Prior to joining the St. George family I was a Senior Latin Event Coordinator for Herbalife International and a Senior Financial Analyst for Warner Brothers. I became a substitute teacher in 2011 leaving the corporate world behind and following my dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. For the past five years I worked as a substitute teacher for Chino, Cucamonga, Colton, and Whittier School Districts, where I was able to work with a wide range of diverse learners with different needs. On June of 2016, I obtained my PMFP Certification, which deepened my Catholic faith. I am an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish in Ontario, where I taught CCD for four years, two of those years in 4th grade.
I have attended many workshops to enhance my teaching career and to better assist my students. I have attended the California’s Teacher Summit 2016, The Los Angeles Religious Education Conference, and For the Love of Languages Conference, which focused on project, based learning. I continue to attend training's on Renaissance U, which help in assisting my students in STAR Testing, Accelerated Math, and Accelerated Reading programs. Recently I attended a workshop for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). This focused on integrating STEM in the classroom, which I am excited to introduce to 4th grade this year! This summer I continued to enhance my career by attending a seminar at Cal State Fullerton focusing on Critical Thinking, CaPSPDNow focusing on mathematics. In addition, I have completed the First Aid/CPR training and the annual Safe Environment for the Protection of Children workshop.
I am married to my best friend (Israel), and have two children (Matthew 13 and Bella 8) who attend St. George. When I am not being mommy, chauffeur, cook, maid, comforter, listener, homework helper, and cheerleader, I help my husband with his Real Estate business. On my free time “almost non-existent” I like working out, hiking, and running. I love to travel, shop, garden, dance, going to the river, and am on the hunt for great taco places... Did I mention shopping?
I truly feel blessed to be working with your children alongside so many talented and supportive staff members here at St. George. I am excited to take on this new opportunity God has presented me with.
