About The Aide
Hello! My name is Cristen Arroyo and I am excited to begin this year as the 1st-Grade Teacher's Assistant. This will be my 3rd school year working at St. George as a TA. I have volunteered within the San Bernardino Diocese as a catechist preparing children for their First Holy Communion as well as their Confirmation, I also serve as a Eucharistic Minister for our school masses. Prior to being hired here at St. George I worked in the accounting department for a local car dealership before leaving in 2010 to stay home and raise my children.
I am currently enrolled in National University working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development with a concentration in Teacher Education. My goals are to graduate and acquire my multi-subject Teaching Credential; with that, I hope to teach in a classroom within the Primary grade level. Although, I am open to any opportunities God places within my life.
Throughout the summer I attended different programs and conferences to further my learning and to better serve the needs of our students. I attended a Teach Plus Math seminar where I was able to collaborate with other teachers about effective strategies inside the classroom, including the implementation of Math Talks and encouraging a Growth Mindset. I also attended The California Teacher's Summit, again where I was able to collaborate with other educators about New Teacher Strategies. I was also able to learn more about how we can incorporate STEM/STEAM into lesson plans and make it fun for the students.
On a personal note, my husband Fernando and I have been married since 2006. We have three children, two son's Jordan 12 and Elias 7 and a daughter Mia that is 10, all who attend St. George School. My husband and I spend most of our free time watching our kids play soccer and softball. We also enjoy going to Disneyland and watching NASCAR races when they are in town. We often spend our weekends, when not busy with sports, with our families enjoying BBQ and a lot of laughs.
I am excited to begin this year and work with our incoming 1st-Grade class!
