About The Teacher
Hello and bienvenidos! My name is Miss Hernandez and I am the new Kindergarten teacher. I am extremely excited to be starting this new chapter in my career here at St. George! I grew up going to this parish with my grandmother. As I walk around campus it feels as if life has brought me full circle and back home.
This is my fourth year teaching elementary education. I started out teaching Music and Spanish to grades k-8 in the Diocese of Tucson, Arizona in a small border town with the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles. I loved it! I and other graduates from various Catholic colleges lived in community and taught together. It was a blessed and beautiful experience that I am grateful for. It was there that I received amazing formation as a Catholic educator and where I discovered my love of teaching. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Theology and Spanish from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. I am in the process of going back to school to continue my studies in Education because I believe that the best educators are never done learning. I have participated in curricular workshops such as ESL instruction and Differentiated instruction.
I have also been a catechist, lector, and Eucharistic minister in my parish. I have worked as a youth minister to middle school and high school youth with a non-profit Catholic organization called NET Ministries. I have been a music minister for the past ten years and have served on retreats, masses, adoration, and conferences. I look forward to leading our students in worship and helping them develop their talents to glorify God. I can’t imagine not working in a Catholic school because faith is such a big part of my life. I am truly thankful to be here and serve the St. George community. God bless you!
