Welcome! My name is Mrs. Thornhill, and I’m thrilled to be back as the 7th grade homeroom and ELA teacher for Jr. High. This marks my 8th year at St. George and my 7th year as a classroom teacher. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of teaching Jr. High ELA, 2nd grade, 5th grade, and now returning to my roots in Jr. High ELA, where my journey began.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Azusa Pacific University, where I also earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a supplementary authorization in English Language Arts and a Master of Arts in Education. My academic path has deeply shaped my love for teaching and my commitment to helping students grow both intellectually and spiritually. Most recently, I completed a 2½-year program through Notre Dame University as a STEM Teacher Leader in the field of Education. This experience has deepened my commitment to innovation, inquiry, and leadership in the classroom.
I value my individual growth just as much as my students’, and I look forward to continuing my STEM leadership both in our classroom and throughout our school community.
Outside the classroom, I’m a proud mom of two beautiful children—one in 6th grade and the other in preschool. They inspire me daily and remind me of the wonder and curiosity that lives in every learner. As a family, we love going to amusements parks, watching movies, and going to baseball games. Go Angels!!
I have a deep passion for reading and writing, and love sharing that with all of my students, or anyone who is willing to listen. Whether we’re diving into various genres of literature or crafting our own narratives, I want my students to be transported into another world where they are able to make real-life connections while discovering new perspectives.
Above all, my hope is that every student who walks into my classroom feels loved, welcomed, inspired, and leaves with a stronger love for God and themselves. I’m looking forward to another incredible year of growth, creativity, and faith.
